The American Icon Art Competition was developed to reinvigorate  the Sausalito Art Festival, which over time had acquired a reputation as being a bit musty and out of touch. They needed to connect with a younger demographic, without alienating their established base. 

 

AIAC injects a much needed vibrancy to the long running festival by encouraging emerging and mid-career artists to take part in a themed and juried sub-show within the SAF.

 

This promotional poster and mailer was developed along with Los Angeles based photographer Shane 'Donnell, for the 2016 theme:

"United States of Diversity"

The competition received over 500 entries and the AIAC winners show tent within the festival was rated as one of the highlights of the entire festival in visitor exit polls.
